50 Ohm Coaxial Cables - Use of solid copper shield cables such as Hardline is beneficial and gives decades of trouble-free operation. Braided Shield cables such as LMR400, and other equivalent type cables are serviceable for many years as they have the same plastic jacket, depending upon manufacturer. We suggest using crimp type-N connectors on any braided shield cable. All outdoor connectors should be protected with at least 1/4 inch of rubberized tape, such as 3M Scotch 130C or 2242.

Lightning Arrestors - The National Electrical Code requires lightning arrestors to be placed on any antenna line, where the line enters a building, and proper grounding is required. Bluewave has lightning arrestors and Technical Notes, for the proper installation. Additional information on lightning is available at www.lightningsafetyalliance.com and at http://www.lightningsafety.com/. Gas tube DC-Pass lightning arrestors are required for use with the SDR Series™ radios. One ideal Bluewave model is BLS-6200 and has type-N connectors.
